Description

Outlander meets Game of Thrones in this blockbuster new epic fantasy series from the #1 New York Times bestselling author duo Ilona Andrews.

When Maggie wakes up cold, filthy, and naked in a gutter, it doesn't take her long to recognize Kair Toren, a city she knows intimately from the pages of the famously unfinished dark fantasy series she's been obsessively reading and re-reading while waiting years for the final novel.

Her only tools for navigating this gritty world of rival warlords, magic, and mayhem? Her encyclopedic knowledge of the plot, the setting, and the characters' ambitions and fates. But while she quickly discovers she cannot be killed (though many will try!), the same cannot be said for the living, breathing characters she's coming to love—a motley band that includes a former lady’s maid, a deadly assassin, various outrageous magical creatures, and a dangerously appealing soldier. Soon, instead of trying to get home, she finds herself enmeshed in the schemes—and attentions—of dueling princes, dukes, and villains, all while trying to save them and the kingdom of Rellas from the way she knows their stories will end: in a cataclysmic war.

For fans of Samantha Shannon, Danielle L. Jensen, Sarah J. Maas, and isekai and portal fantasy, This Kingdom Will Not Kill Me is the beginning of the most epic adventure yet from genre powerhouse author duo Ilona Andrews.

They just don’t stop with the hits. They keep coming. I loved the novel and can’t wait to read more. It’s a really clever concept and of course the writing and characters and storylines is fabulous per usual. Loved it and excited for the next novel.

The writer duo that make up Ilona Andrews has amazed, surprised, and impressed me with the new book. I have it as an ebook, and bought 3 hardback copies so that I had one of my own and one for both of my .granddaughters They are sci-fi and Romantacy lovers and I cannot wait for their reviews. I have all of her books and reread them frequently. I will pray that the second book outdoes first. YAY FOR HOUSE ANDREWS. Che gal

This is the most intriguing, frustrating, and yet compelling book of any you’ve written. I’m not even done with it and yet I can’t seem to put it down. I’m just cannot quit reading it. HOLY SHINOLA, what a story it’s captivating and it did not end as I expected. I just read three books in one it was that long. The cover of the book is deceptive looking, soft fantasy however, there’s nothing soft about this book. I have never read a book that pulled me in even though it was so hard trying to keep track of the storyline in the very beginning. This is a whole new style of books of theirs. I’ve read it’s just, like, holy wow! I really hope it doesn’t take long for the next one.

This new fantasy story line does not disappoint. It was a bit too detail oriented for my taste but I loved it just the same. So when’s the next installment? I’m hooked!

All the adjectives! The authors always deliver and I have yet to find anything they write long enough or boring. If you haven’t discovered their books, you’re missing out.

I read this so fast! It’s unique, the characters are everything, the world building is amazing, I saw chapter 23s twist coming but not the later ones… I really enjoyed this book. Here’s to hoping we don’t have to wait long for the second one!

House Andrews has done what they do best - weave characters, relationships, and context into a compelling tapestry of story. All of the complexity of power, magic, mystery, and choice - when every choice absolutely changes the future. And the future is fighting back. Frames each scene so the reader can see each character as a whole person, not just a trope with backstory. I savored each twist.
