Description

Opposites attract in this magical, delightful contemporary romance from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Say You'll Remember Me.

After a wild bet, gourmet grilled-cheese sandwich, and cuddle with a baby goat, Alexis Montgomery has had her world turned upside down. The cause: Daniel Grant, a ridiculously hot carpenter who’s ten years younger than her and as casual as they come—the complete opposite of sophisticated city-girl Alexis. And yet their chemistry is undeniable.

While her ultra-wealthy parents want her to carry on the family legacy of world-renowned surgeons, Alexis doesn’t need glory or fame. She’s fine with being a “mere” ER doctor. And every minute she spends with Daniel and the tight-knit town where he lives, she’s discovering just what’s really important. Yet letting their relationship become anything more than a short-term fling would mean turning her back on her family and giving up the opportunity to help thousands of people.

Bringing Daniel into her world is impossible, and yet she can’t just give up the joy she’s found with him either. With so many differences between them, how can Alexis possibly choose between her world and his?

  • Surprisingly Great: Just the Reset My Reading Slump Needed

Here's a polished version: I'm not one for rom-coms or romance books — I mostly read thrillers and police procedurals. I'd found most too hokey, predictable, and reliant on entertaining the unbelievable. This was such a pleasant surprise — funny, heartwarming, and it even made me teary-eyed. Were there moments where the story felt far-fetched and the characters' plights overly simplistic? Yes. But it still captured the beauty of falling in love when you least expect it, with some yearning I really appreciated. It had whimsy and left me hopeful. Overall, a great introduction to this author, and I'm sure it won't be the last book of hers I read — if nothing else, her writing is a great reset when I need one.

Met these characters on Jist for the summer and loved learning their love’s roots. Great rom com! The side characters really make the story to come to life as much as the main love story. Ali becomes more likable as the story moves on. And Daniel seems like someone I’d definitely want as my small towns mayor. And inn keeper 😍
