“Angels Watching Over” is an extremely worthwhile novel to read. It is set on a plantation in North Carolina during and just after the Civil War. The story is told at a very personal level(1st person-singular), by a fifteen year old slave girl, Mayme ,who experiences much horror. However, Mayme, very dutifully does what would be expected of her, thus carrying on. After meeting Katie, the daughter of a nearby plantation owner, the two encounter many dilemmas, but finally Mayme has an amazing revelation from God and the small group face the future all together. Thoroughly enjoyable read!

This book really engaged me from the very beginning. I felt every emotion, and finishing with His love made it perfect. I didn't want it to end.

Compelling

Good,clean story that rings true of growing up and learning to walk with God.

I read these books as a girl and loved every page. I remember not being able to put them down and even now the whole series holds a special place on my book shelf.

Michael Phillips never disappoints. Love his historical fiction, and the faith truths that are woven into the story line.

I loved this book and now am eager to read the rest of the series to see what happens to the main characters. It captured my interest almost immediately and I didn't want to put it down. It is an uplifting book, although sad in parts, about the strength of the human character and ability to rise above difficult circumstances.
